ATLANTA – It would have been understandable if the Huntingdon women's basketball team had started slow on Friday in its first NCAA Tournament appearance. Facing the 24th-ranked team in the country, the Lady Hawks could have been nervous or a little timid in the first round of the tournament. But Huntingdon did not encounter any of those problems. The Lady Hawks played with confidence, set the tone early and upset Ferrum College 84-67 at Emory University's Woodruff P.E. Center.
Lady Hawks hope to add to season’s success in first trip to NCAA Tournament

ATLANTA – The accomplishments have been plentiful this season for the Huntingdon women's basketball team. The Lady Hawks won their 18th game to set a new program record for wins in a season. With 13 wins in the last 14 games, the Lady Hawks (18-9) tied their NCAA-era mark for longest winning streak with seven wins in January and early February. Coming off their first Great South Athletic Conference championship and entering their first NCAA Tournament, the Lady Hawks are currently riding a six-game winning streak. Huntingdon hopes to add to the streak on Friday in the first round of the NCAA Tournament at Emory University.

MONTGOMERY, Ala. – The Huntingdon women's basketball team has had a lot to take in during the past 24 hours. Winning the program's first Great South Athletic Conference title on Sunday ensured the Lady Hawks their first berth in the NCAA Tournament. Monday afternoon, team members and coaches gathered in head coach Buzz Phillips' office to watch the Division III Women's Basketball Selection Show. Huntingdon's game was the next-to-last one announced, but it was worth the wait.

Moments after defeating Salem College 73-61 in the GSAC championship game on Sunday, the Lady Hawks celebrated with fans, shared hugs and posed for pictures of the historic moment. For the first time in the 15-year history of the Huntingdon women's basketball program, the Lady Hawks are headed to the NCAA Tournament.

MONTGOMERY, Ala. – The Huntingdon women's basketball team wrapped up its conference schedule with a 90-52 win over Wesleyan College on Saturday. At the completion of the game, head coach Buzz Phillips delivered some exciting news to the Lady Hawks. With Saturday's win and Agnes Scott's 65-40 loss to Salem, Huntingdon (15-9, 8-2 Great South Athletic Conference) earned its first regular-season GSAC title.

ATLANTA – Sophomore Patricia Pickens battled through illness and turned in a career-high scoring performance to lead the Huntingdon women's basketball team Wednesday night. Pickens scored 26 points and pulled down 10 rebounds to lead the Lady Hawks past Spelman 67-61. The double-double was the fourth for Pickens in six games.

ATLANTA – Huntingdon senior Morgan Crawford was announced as the Great South Athletic Conference Player of the Week on Wednesday. Crawford averaged 17.5 points, 8.5 assists, three rebounds and 2.5 steals in a pair of Huntingdon wins last week. She was 12-of-21 from the field and 5-of-10 from 3-point range.
