Women's Soccer Back In The Win Column Following Shutout Victory At Wesleyan

MACON, Ga.- Ending a seven-match losing streak, Huntingdon Women's Soccer traveled to Wesleyan College this evening for a Collegiate Conference of the South contest- lighting up the scoreboard in a 5-0 shutout victory over the Wolves. 

How it happened

The Hawks drew blood early to establish an early advantage, as Shaylinn McFarland found Greer Kemmett at the 8:46 mark for Huntingdon's first goal of the contest. A little less than 8 minutes later, the roles were reversed, as Kemmett hit McFarland for another goal, extending the lead to 2-0 by the halftime break. 

As the second half got underway, the Hawks kept firing away, taking 19 shots in the half. Freshman Lexie Segar pushed the Huntingdon advantage to 3-0 off an assist from Shea Eichelberger at the 46:44 mark, sparking a three-goal second half. Avery Chadwick and Shayla Barnes eached cashed in off assists from Keabetsoe Walker coming down the stretch, icing the game away and handing Huntingdon their first conference win of the season, 5-0. 

In the goal

#31 Madelon Machen drew the start in the goal for Huntingdon and picked up her first collegiate win, saving Wesleyan's only two shot attempts in a little over 50 minutes of action. Senior Caroline Masker closed things out as the Hawks goalkeeper, seeing 39 minutes of action without a shot attempt on goal. 

 

The Hawks look to keep rolling, hosting LaGrange on October 15th for their next contest. Gametime is set for 6:00 PM CT.
