BEREA, Ky.- Playing their second game in as many days in the Bluegrass State, Huntingdon Women's Soccer faced off with a former conference opponent, the Berea Mountaineers, this afternoon, where they were ultimately defeated 1-0.
How it happened
Through the opening stages of the match, neither squad could generate any momentum offensively, as Madelon Machen and the Mountaineers' keeper anchored their team's defensive efforts. Berea finally managed to break the ice with a goal at the 33 minute mark, and that proved to be all they needed en route to their fourth win on the season. For the match, the Mountaineers outshot the Hawks 21-11, while also saving the Hawks two attempts on goal. Huntingdon's defense remained strong throughout the contest however, as Machen recorded 11 saves to just the one allowed goal.
The Hawks aim to right the ship on Wednesday, September 24th at home as they host Belhaven University for a CCS match. Gametime is set for 6:00 PM CT.
