MONTGOMERY, Ala.- Returning to the Samford Soccer Complex for the first time since their match against MUW on September 10th, Huntingdon Women's Soccer played host to the Vikings of Berry College in a non-conference match. Falling behind 3-0 in the first half, the Hawks tried to rally in the second, but couldn't overcome the deficit in their 4-1 loss to the Vikings.
How it happened
The Vikings flew out of the gates to get things going, scoring three unanswered goals on 16 attempts, while holding Huntingdon to just 2 attempts in the half as they created a three score gap heading into the second half. Not done fighting however, the Hawks got on the board immediately in the second half, as Greer Kemmett cashed in off an assist from Zoe Gerlach to cut the lead to 3-1 with 44 minutes to go.
Huntingdon's offense found life in the second half, increasing their shot volume in the second half, but Berry managed to ice the game with a goal at the 48:47 mark, taking the win 4-1.
In the goal
#31 Madelon Machen played all 90 minutes in the goal for the Hawks, picking up 14 saves while allowing 4 goals in the loss.
The Hawks look to bounce back on Saturday, September 20th as they open conference play with a road match against Asbury. Gametime is set for 12:00 PM CT.
