Hawks Fall To Wiley In Neutral Site Matchup

SHREVEPORT, La.- Looking to bounce back from their season-opening loss at home against Millsaps, Huntingdon Women's Soccer kicked off a two-game stint at Centenary College, getting it started with a neutral site matchup against the Wiley University Wildcats.

In spite of firing 16 shots, five more than the Wildcats, the Hawks couldn't get things going as they fell 2-0.

How it happened

Through the opening 30 minutes, neither side could find their way past the opposition's goalkeeper, as Libby Williams stopped Wiley's lone shot on goal while the Wildcats' keeper stopped attempts Shaylinn McFarland, Keabetsoe Walker, and Avery Chadwick. Both of Wiley's goals for the match came in the first half with the first coming at the 31:14 mark before the second followed with seven minutes remaining until halftime.

In the second half, the Hawks had their opportunities, firing off 9 shots, but Wiley's keeper kept Huntingdon off the board, resulting in a shutout loss for the Hawks.

The Hawks have an opportunity to bounce back tomorrow, September 7th, against Centenary. Gametime is set for 12:00 PM CT.
