Townsend Brings Home Second Consecutive CCS Player Of The Week Award
ATLANTA, Ga.- For the second week in a row, Marcus Townsend has been named the CCS Men's Basketball Player of the Week.
A senior guard from Montgomery, Alabama, Townsend delivered a historic performance to lead Huntingdon during its 1–1 showing at the LaQuinta Inn & Suites Classic, hosted by LaGrange. The senior guard averaged 20.5 points and 15 rebounds across the two-game stretch, anchoring the Hawks on both ends of the floor. Townsend opened the week with a double-double, recording 12 points and 10 rebounds in a tightly contested 93–91 overtime loss to Methodist. He followed with a dominant showing in a 116–96 victory over the Baptist University of Florida, pouring in 29 points and pulling down 20 rebounds. The 20-rebound effort marked a milestone for the program, as Townsend became the first Hawk to record a 20-rebound game during Huntingdon's NCAA era.
Marcus and the Hawks return to action after the Christmas break on December 28th, kicking off the Millsaps Classic against the Majors. Tip-off is set for 5:00 PM CT.
