Former Huntingdon standout joins Double-A Mississippi Braves

PEARL, Miss. – Former Huntingdon catcher Joseph Odom made his Double-A debut this week. Odom joined the Mississippi Braves on Thursday and earned his first start in Double-A in an 8-3 loss to the Jacksonville Suns. Odom scored one run in the game.

MONTGOMERY, Ala. – The Huntingdon baseball team will open the postseason against Birmingham-Southern on Wednesday in the South Regional at Berry College. The Hawks and Panthers will play in the second game on Wednesday at 1:30 p.m. (Central). Huntingdon (27-17) is the No. 5 seed in the six-team South Regional in Mount Berry, Ga. Birmingham-Southern (37-11) is the No. 2 seed.
Spivey’s 6 RBIs power Hawks past Quakers

MONTGOMERY, Ala. – Huntingdon senior Anthony Spivey made his final game at Posey Field a memorable one. Spivey finished 3-for-4 with two home runs, a triple, six RBIs and three runs on Sunday as the Hawks closed the regular season with an 11-1 win over Guilford College.
Conville becomes Hawks’ winningest baseball coach

MONTGOMERY, Ala. – The Huntingdon baseball team took two games from Guilford College on Saturday as head coach D.J. Conville became the winningest coach in 56 seasons of Huntingdon baseball. With a 5-3 win in Game 1 and a 3-0 win in seven innings in Game 2, Conville reached win No. 320 at Huntingdon to set a new mark for the program.
USA South Champs: Hawks take two from Maryville to win title

WILSON, N.C. – The Huntingdon baseball team won twice on Sunday to capture its first USA South Athletic Conference championship. Behind a dominant pitching performance from Tournament MVP Zach McGrady, the Hawks beat Maryville 1-0 to force a deciding Game 2. In the final game, with runners on second and third and two outs, left fielder Alec Raley made a diving catch to preserve a 9-8 win.
Huntingdon advances to conference tournament finals

WILSON, N.C. – The Huntingdon baseball team had a tough start on Saturday but the Hawks are still alive in the USA South Athletic Conference Tournament. Huntingdon lost to Maryville 9-2 in the winners bracket finals before eliminating LaGrange 6-2 in the losers bracket finals. Huntingdon (22-17) will face Maryville (29-13) in the tournament championship on Sunday.
Hines’ RBI single lifts Hawks in bottom of the 9th

ROCKY MOUNT, N.C. – Junior Josh Hines hit a two-out, bases-loaded single in the bottom of the ninth inning to score Gunnar Peters and give the Huntingdon baseball team an 8-7 win over North Carolina Wesleyan on Friday in the second round of the USA South Athletic Conference Tournament. The seventh-seeded Hawks (21-16) will play fourth-seeded Maryville (28-13) in the winners bracket finals on Saturday at 11 a.m. Central. The winner will advance to the conference championship on Sunday.

Kucera named first-team All-Conference

FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. – Huntingdon senior Patrick Kucera earned All-Conference honors with the release of the USA South All-Conference baseball awards on Wednesday. Kucera was named first-team as an outfielder. This is the second straight season Kucera has earned All-Conference honors. The Daphne, Ala., native was a second-team selection last season.
