DIII Week Student Spotlight- Aniyah Griffin

MONTGOMERY, Ala.- Continuing our student-athlete spotlight series in honor of DIII week, we had the opportunity to catch up with Aniyah Griffin, a freshman on Huntingdon's Women's Wrestling team.

Coming to Huntingdon from Pinson, Alabama, Aniyah has quickly inserted herself into the life of the campus, as she is a member of Chi Omega, a panhellenic sorority on campus, and the Black Student Union.

Majoring in Criminal Justice, Griffin particularly enjoys Dr. Patrick Schmucker's classroom atmosphere, lending itself to why she made the decision to come to a Division III institution. Citing the family feeling associated with Huntingdon's campus, Aniyah shared that her favorite thing about Huntingdon in particular is "the people and resources offered that allow for me(Griffin) to succeed both on and off the mat."

The Academic All-American recalls her regional tournament experience from this past season as her favorite memory, stating that "qualifying for nationals while being surrounded by my great teammates, family and coaches was a tremendous feeling."

Aniyah finished the 2024-2025 season as the third Hawk to qualify for nationals within the programs first two years of existence, winning 23 matches on the year. Stay tuned for news about the upcoming 2025-2026 schedule for Huntingdon Women's Wrestling and Griffin, as they continue to grow as a young program with dedicated athletes like herself.
