DIII Week Student Spotlight: Lilly Brown
MONTGOMERY, Ala.- In honor of national DIII week, we will be spotlighting different Huntingdon student-athletes for their achievements and dedication to the program and the college, both on and off the field. Our next spotlight belongs to Lilly Brown of the Hawks Women's Tennis Team.
Coming to Huntingdon in the Fall of 2024 as a transfer from Wallace State Community College, Brown's impact on the tennis program was immediately felt, as she secured a first team all-CCS selection in her debut year with the program. "What appealed to me most about Huntingdon was the sense of community," Lilly shared. "Instead of being just a number at a larger campus, I liked how Huntingdon felt like a close family. The ability to compete in my sport while pursuing my degree was incredibly important to me. Additionally, the small class sizes have allowed me to build meaningful relationships with my professors and classmates, enhancing both my academic and personal experience."
Serving as the captain of the tennis team, the exercise science major's academic and athletic success in the Scarlet and Grey is clear, as she has also been inducted into the Omicron Delta Kappa(ODK) Honor Society that recognizes juniors and seniors within the top 35% of their class. In her experience as a Division III student-athlete, her favorite memory comes from last season's CCS Championships in Chattanooga, Tennessee, where the Hawks placed 3rd in the conference. "This was a proud moment for all of us," Brown stated. "Beyond the achievements, the special friendships I have made through tennis have created memories that will last a lifetime."
After Huntingdon, Lilly has been accepted and will be attending Occupational Therapy School at the University of South Alabama to obtain her doctorate. Huntingdon Athletics would like to wish her the best of luck as her senior season begins to wind down, and her life after Huntingdon begins.
