  • Huntingdon joins USA South Athletic Conference

    MONTGOMERY, Ala. — Huntingdon College President J. Cameron West announced today that Huntingdon will join the NCAA-Division III USA South Athletic Conference beginning in the fall of 2013. Huntingdon and Covenant College (Ga.) were approved as members at a meeting of the USA South presidents yesterday. Current USA South members are Averett University (Va.), Ferrum College (Va.), Greensboro College (N.C.), Mary Baldwin College (Va.), Meredith College (N.C.), Methodist University (N.C.), N.C. Wesleyan College (N.C.), William Peace University (N.C.), and the conference's newest members, LaGrange College (Ga.), Piedmont College (Ga.), and Maryville College (Tenn.).

  • Huntingdon women’s tennis loses to Agnes Scott in GSAC finals

    KNOXVILLE, Tenn. – The Huntingdon women's tennis team came up short in Sunday's Great South Athletic Conference tournament championship. The Lady Hawks battled Agnes Scott but the Scotties took the title with a 5-2 win. The title is the fourth straight for Agnes Scott. This was the sixth straight season Huntingdon has reached the finals.

    KNOXVILLE, Tenn. – The Huntingdon women's tennis team eliminated Piedmont in the semifinals of the Great South Athletic Conference tournament on Saturday. The win sets up a familiar championship match at the University of Tennessee on Sunday at 2:30 p.m. The Lady Hawks, who are in the finals for the sixth straight season, take on three-time defending GSAC tournament champion Agnes Scott.
  • Huntingdon tennis teams have high expectations entering GSAC tournament

    MONTGOMERY, Ala. – The Huntingdon men's and women's tennis teams each have the same goal this weekend. As the Great South Athletic Conference tennis tournament gets started in Knoxville, Tenn., the Hawks and the Lady Hawks are both looking for a conference title. The Huntingdon men have reached the finals the past four seasons and won the conference tournament in 2008 and 2009. The Lady Hawks have played in the tournament finals each of the past five seasons, winning the GSAC championship in 2007 and 2008.

    DECATUR, Ga. – Huntingdon freshmen tennis players Zac Baldwin and Taylor Clark were each named conference Freshman of the Year by the Great South Athletic Conference. With the release of the GSAC All-Conference awards, both the Huntingdon men's and women's tennis teams are well represented. A total of 10 Huntingdon tennis players were recognized with awards.

    MONTGOMERY, Ala. – The Huntingdon women's tennis team won 12 singles matches and six doubles matches to blank Judson 9-0 and LaGrange 9-0 on Wednesday. The wins pushed the Lady Hawks' winning streak to seven straight.
  • Huntingdon’s Vick feels prepared for challenges to come

    MONTGOMERY, Ala. – Huntingdon senior Christian Vick recently had to make a tough decision. Having applied to the Doctor of Physical Therapy program at several schools, Vick was accepted at four schools – UAB, Mercer University, the University of South Alabama and Alabama State University. Vick chose UAB as the school where she will pursue her doctorate in physical therapy, specializing in acute care.

Taylor Clark from Huntingdon and Katie Sailors and Morgan Reed of Piedmont are the women's singles and doubles winners while John Hirte of Covenant and Christopher Davidson and Nick Hallberg of Piedmont earned the men's honors.

    MONTGOMERY, Ala. – The Huntingdon women's tennis team started slow but knocked off Covenant 7-2 on Saturday at the Gibbs Tennis Complex. The Lady Hawks (11-3, 4-1 Great South Athletic Conference) dropped two doubles matches to start the day but won every match in singles.

    ORLANDO, Fla. – The Huntingdon women’s tennis team wrapped up its visit to Orlando on Tuesday with its third win in three days. The Lady Hawks knocked off Hollins University 5-4 in the final match of the trip. Hollins is ranked 14th in the ITA Atlantic South Region.

On the women's side, Huntingdon's Katie Scott earns singles and doubles player of the week honors along with teammate Micaela White. For the men, Zach Clark matched Scott by getting singles and doubles player of the week with teammate Jimmy Fulton.

    GREENSBORO, N.C. – The Huntingdon women's tennis team was without two of its top six players on Saturday, but the Lady Hawks knocked off Sweet Briar 9-0. Sweet Briar is ranked 18th in the ITA Atlantic South Region.

Huntingdon sweeps the women's awards with Taylor Clark for singles and Micaela White and Hannah Still securing the doubles honor. On the men's side, Piedmont's Moses Das earned singles player of the week and Huntingdon's Zac Baldwin and Sean Jackson for doubles.

Starting off on the women's side Katie Scott of Huntingdon and Hannah Kraus & Mariel Herrera of Agnes Scott earned singles and doubles, respectively. For the men, Piedmont's Nick Hallberg and Covenant's John Herberich and Andy Jones nab singles and doubles, respectively.

    ATLANTA, Ga. – The Huntingdon women’s tennis team faced its first major test of the season on Sunday. The Lady Hawks traveled to third-ranked Emory University and lost 9-0. Huntingdon was also scheduled to play Methodist, but that match was canceled.
