Four Hawks Set To Place At NCAA Region VI Championships

DUBUQUE, Iowa- Making the trek to Dubuque for the NCAA Region VI Championships, Huntingdon Men's Wrestling saw four wrestlers advance to the second day of competition, at minimum allowing for each wrestler to place within their weight class, and a top-three finish punching their ticket to the national tournament for the first time in program history.

Cole Blalock(125 LB), Damion Jones(157 LB), Kevin Shaw III(197 LB), and Steven Flagg(285 LB) each pieced together exemplary showings to advance to the second day of regional competition tomorrow. Blalock entered the tournament as the 23rd seed in the bracket, and finished the day with a 2-1 record, knocking off the 6th and 7th seeds to advance. He currently sits in the consolation bracket, but still has a chance to qualify. Jones served as the 8th seed in his bracket, suffering just one loss on the day(against the #1 seed) to remain in contention. As the #7 seed, Shaw III also concluded the day with a 2-1 record, needing a win to stay alive. Flagg joined Blalock in the upset bids, defeating the #7 seed en route to a 2-1 record of his own to round things out.

Wrestling is set to begin tomorrow, February 28th, at 10:00 AM as these Hawks look to etch their name into the Huntingdon history-books.
