CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa- Advancing 4 wrestlers into the second day of competition at the NCAA Regional tournament, Huntingdon men's wrestling saw their remarkably successful 2024-2025 campaign conclude. Formerly known as the Lower Midwest Regional, the Hawks region features 8 of the top 20 programs in Division III, including the top 5 ranked nationally.

With the top three in each weight class qualifying for a spot in the national tournament, two Hawks finished just outside the podium, with David Burgess and Nicholas Brashear each finishing 4th overall. Cade Sousa and Hudson Andrews each placed 8th overall as well to round out Huntingdon's regional placers. Placing 4 Hawks at regionals stands as the most in a single season in program history. Freshman Hinds Duncan nearly joined the likes of Brashear, Burgess, Sousa, and Andrews, but fell 14-11 on a last second takedown to miss the top 8. Hudson Andrews placement makes him the second sophomore in program history to finish top 8, with Brashear becoming the first Hawk to place at a regional 3 times throughout his career.

Winning 5 matches over the course of the last two days, David Burgess has broken Jack Haury's records with wins in a career(107) and wins in a season(37). He finished the year 37-11 overall, competing near the top of the NCAA in total matches. His win over Wartburg today also marks the first time a Hawk has defeated the longtime NCAA Division III powerhouse.
