Hawks Fall To Belhaven In CCS Tournament Championship Round

OXFORD, Ala.- After claiming a run-rule victory over Maryville a day ago to advance to the championship round of the Collegiate Conference of the South Tournament, Huntingdon Softball fell in each of the two games to the top-seeded Blazers of Belhaven University, 10-4 and 5-2, finishing as the league's runner-up.

Game One

In game one, Huntingdon collected 12 hits and used a four-run fifth inning to cut into an early deficit. Kylie Stephens paced the offense with a double, triple, and two RBIs, while Kate Dinkel added two hits and an RBI. Kinley Hutto also finished with two hits and drove in a run for the Hawks.

Addison Gaines took the loss in the circle for the Hawks, pitching 4.2 innings and allowing 4 runs on as many hits with 8 strikeouts.

Game Two

In the championship game, Huntingdon jumped out to a 2-1 lead through two innings on RBI singles from Stephens and Maddie Grace Hubbard. Belhaven answered with three runs in the fourth and added another in the sixth to pull away. Hubbard went 2-for-3 with an RBI, while Kamryn Miller scored and added a hit.

Allie Roberts took her 5th loss of the season in the circle, pitching a complete game and striking out 6 Blazers.
