Hawks Fall In Midweek Matchup With Emory

MONTGOMERY, Ala.- In a rematch of last year's regional championship, #9 Huntingdon Softball welcomed the Emory University Eagles back to Montgomery for their final non-conference double-header of the regular season, falling in the first game 8-6 and 6-3 in the second.

Game One

In game one, the Hawks dug themselves an early hole as Emory pushed across five runs in the first two innings and extended the lead to 8-1 by the fifth. Huntingdon showed resilience late, erupting for five runs across the fourth through sixth innings to make it a two-run game. Maddie Grace Hubbard led the charge with three hits, while Riley Rudick drove in two runs during the sixth-inning rally. Despite drawing nine walks and bringing the tying run into play, the Hawks couldn't complete the comeback, falling 8-6.

Game Two

In game two, Emory again struck early, capitalizing on a pair of defensive miscues to build a 5-0 advantage through four innings. Huntingdon answered with a three-run fourth, highlighted by RBI singles from Maddie Grace HubbardKatie Burch, and Kylie Stephens, but couldn't generate additional offense down the stretch. The Hawks collected nine hits in the game, with multiple players contributing, but couldn't rally as Emory added an insurance run in the seventh to secure the 6-3 win.

The Hawks close out the regular season on Friday, April 24th in a double-header at Agnes Scott. Games are set for 1:00 and 3:00 PM CT.
