Hawks Fall At #18 Belhaven

JACKSON, Miss.- Hitting the road for their second consecutive conference double-header, #8 Huntingdon Softball fell in a pair of matches today at the hands of the #18 ranked Blazers of Belhaven University, dropping the first game 3-1 and the second 7-6.

Game one

In the opener, the Hawks were held to three hits, with Riley Rudick accounting for two of them, including a double. Allie Roberts turned in a complete-game effort in the circle, allowing three runs while the defense supported her with multiple double plays. Huntingdon broke through in the seventh on an error that allowed Kaylin Fincher to score, but the late push wasn't enough in a 3–1 loss.

Game two

Game 2 saw the Hawks' offense come alive early. Huntingdon plated five runs through the first four innings, highlighted by a triple and RBI from Kate Dinkel and a strong day at the plate from Riley Rudick, who collected three hits. Kamryn Miller added two hits and two RBIs, while Payton Gilchrist drove in a pair as the Hawks built a 5–0 lead.

Belhaven answered with a five-run fifth and continued to chip away, eventually taking the lead in the sixth. Huntingdon responded in the seventh, tying the game at 6–6 on a sacrifice fly from Katie Burch, but a walk-off run in the bottom half sealed the 7–6 decision.

The Hawks will look to bounce back on April 11th as they hit the road to battle the Covenant College Scots. Games are set for 1:30 and 3:30 PM CT.
