Miller's Lone Run Pushes The Hawks Past Millsaps
MONTGOMERY,Ala.- Taking on the Majors in the final game of their three-game series, #10 Huntingdon softball struggled at the plate, but controlled the pace of the game from the circle in order to secure a 1-0 victory, completing their season sweep of Millsaps College.
How it happened
Through the first two innings, neither team found consistent success at the plate, only recording one base hit each. As the third inning got underway, the Hawks pieced together three consecutive outs in as many batters to quickly retire the side, making way for Huntingdon to gain an advantage on the scoreboard. Center-fielder Kamryn Miller led off the frame for the Hawks, reaching on a bunt and stealing second base before an error rapidly placed her on third. Making the most of the opportunity, Maddie Grace Hubbard down the middle of the field, scoring Miller to give Huntingdon the 1-0 lead that they carried throughout the contest into victory.
Allie Roberts moved to 11-1 on the season with her start in the circle today. Through three innings, she struck out 4 Majors and allowed just one hit before Madisyn Fruge took over. In a little more than two innings of play, Fruge kept Millsaps off the board, allowing just one hit before Roberts reentered in the sixth inning to finish things off.
Third baseman Maddie Grace Hubbard led the offensive attack for the Hawks, securing 3 of the team's 4 base hits, earning the lone RBI of the contest.
