JACKSON, Miss.- Entering tonight's quarterfinal as the conference's 6th seed, Huntingdon Men's Soccer traveled to Belhaven University for a battle with the three-seeded Blazers, falling 5-0 to bring their season to a close.
How it happened
The first 45 minutes of tonight's match proved to be a highly contested exchange between the two squads. Belhaven fired off 14 more shots than Huntingdon(16-2), but the Hawks defense, anchored by Trent Wineburg and his five first half saves, remained solid. The Blazers finally managed to break through at the 26:14 mark, narrowly sliding one past Wineberg as the Hawks entered the halftime break facing a 1-0 deficit. As the second half got underway however, Huntingdon's lack of offensive production caught up to them, as Belhaven cashed in on 4 of their 10 shots to eliminate the Hawks from the conference tournament, 5-0.
In the goal
Freshman Trent Wineberg finishes his season with an overall record of 2-11-3 as he played all 90 minutes tonight, recording 9 saves to bring his total to 115 on the season.
Tonight's loss brings the Hawks season to a close. Stay tuned for news to come of their 2026 season.
