LAGRANGE, Ga.- Hitting the road following their 4-1 victory over Centenary at home Friday afternoon, Huntingdon Men's Soccer returned to action today, this time facing off with the LaGrange Panthers in a non-conference match. Each team found success early offensively, as both scored a goal before the conclusion of the first half, but neither squad could break the ice in the final 45 minutes, resulting in a 1-1 draw.
The Hawks came flying out of the gates, scoring their first goal 7 minutes in, as Dashun McDonald capitalized off an assist from Tate Reynolds to score his 2nd goal of the weekend, giving the Hawks an early 1-0 advantage. The Panthers answered at the 21:50 mark, putting one past Trent Wineberg to even things at 1 midway through the opening half. Through the final 25 minutes of the first half, both teams had attempts on goal, but each goalkeeper anchored the defensive effort with two saves entering the halftime break.
The second half saw more of the same, as Huntingdon fired off 2 second half shots and LaGrange shot 9, but neither goalkeeper budged, leading to the 1-1 draw.
Freshman Trent Wineberg played all 90 minutes in goal for the Hawks, recording 10 saves on 11 shots to keep the Hawks in contention.
The Hawks return to action on Wednesday, September 10th against Tougaloo College. Gametime is set for 7:00 PM CT.
