MONTGOMERY,Ala.- In their CCS season-opener, Huntingdon men's soccer(3-5 overall, 0-1 CCS) fell to the Blazers of Belhaven University(5-2-3 overall, 2-0 CCS) 2-0 at home.
How it happened
Through the first 20 minutes of the half, neither team generated any momentum on the offensive side. Huntingdon goalkeeper Lundon Danford put on a clinic in the early stages of the match, recording 5 saves. Nonetheless, being unable to get shots of their own on the goal, Huntingdon's defense allowed back to back goals within two minutes of each other to fall behind for the remainder of the match.
As the match went, Huntingdon saw attempts at the goal, with Tate Reynolds, Alex Hardy, and Dashun McDonald all finding space, but none of them could get around the Blazers' keeper, handing Huntingdon the 2-0 loss to open conference play.
Danford maintained his strong play in the net from the first half and carried it into the second, recording 13 saves on 15 attempts on the day.
The Hawks look to bounce back on October 5th, traveling to face Covenant College. Gametime is scheduled for 12:00 PM.
