Men's Basketball Drops Road Contest At Maryville

MARYVILLE, Tenn.- Continuing their CCS road stint,  Huntingdon Men's Basketball dropped a hard-fought 71-64 road contest to Maryville College inside the Cooper Athletic Center on Friday night.

Despite holding the Scots to just 33.8 percent shooting from the floor and 15.4 percent from three, the Hawks were undone by 25 made free throws from Maryville and 18 turnovers that proved costly down the stretch.

Huntingdon (25-55, 45.5%) was efficient offensively for much of the evening, knocking down 45.5 percent of its attempts and outrebounding the Scots 44-40. However, the Hawks converted just 4-of-16 from beyond the arc and 10-of-18 at the charity stripe.

Myles Murphy paced the Hawks with 16 points on 6-of-13 shooting and a perfect 4-of-4 night at the line. Owen LaRocca added 13 points, including three triples, while Tyler Mallory finished with 11 points, four rebounds, and three steals.

Andersen Madyun turned in one of his most efficient performances of the season, scoring eight points on a perfect 4-of-4 shooting while pulling down seven rebounds and blocking three shots. Jeremy Autin provided a spark off the bench with 11 rebounds to go along with seven points, helping Huntingdon control the glass for much of the contest.

Defensively, the Hawks limited Maryville to just two made three-pointers and forced 12 turnovers, but the Scots capitalized at the line and on second-chance opportunities with 14 offensive rebounds.

Huntingdon will look to bounce back on February 17th at Belhaven. Tip-off is set for 6:00 PM CT.
