Hawks Season Comes To A Close In CCS Tournament Against Piedmont

PEARL, Miss.- In an elimination game against the top seed in the CCS tournament, Huntingdon Baseball saw their season come to a close in a 9-4 loss at the hands of the Piedmont Lions. 

The Hawks struck first in the opening inning, taking advantage of Piedmont errors as Blayne McDaniel scored and Brodie Holcomb later stole home to make it 2-0.

The Lions answered with a four-run fourth inning, capitalizing on a pair of Huntingdon miscues to swing momentum. The Hawks pulled back within one in the sixth when Brent Cadenhead delivered an RBI single, but Piedmont responded with five runs over the sixth and seventh innings to create separation.

Blayne McDaniel paced the Hawks offensively, finishing 3-for-5, while Holcomb added two hits, an RBI, and a stolen base. Cadenhead also had two hits and drove in a run. Charlie Morgan gave Huntingdon six solid innings on the mound, allowing just two earned runs while striking out five.
