#5 Huntingdon Falls To #2 Belhaven In First Round Of CCS Tournament

MARYVILLE, Tenn.- Entering the Collegiate Conference of the South tournament as the #5 seed, Huntingdon Baseball traveled to Maryville College as they opened things up with a battle against the #2 seed, Belhaven. The Hawks took the lead early in the game, but the Blazers caught fire in response, handing Huntingdon a 16-1 loss.

How it happened

Following a scoreless first inning, Huntingdon put the first run on the board in the top frame of the second inning, as Brent Cadenhead's groundout allowed for Byron McLain to cross home plate to give the Hawks an early advantage. Belhaven responded with two runs in the following frame and never looked back, taking a 4-1 lead into the sixth inning before tacking on five more runs to extend their lead to 10-1. The Blazers tacked on six more runs as the game came to a close, managing to keep Huntingdon off the board as they walked away with the victory, 16-1.

The Hawks are set for a battle with the #6 seeded Covenant Scots tomorrow, May 1st, to stay alive in the conference tournament. Gametime is set for 10:00 AM CT.
