Hawks Fall To Millsaps On The Road

JACKSON, Miss.- Traveling to Jackson for their final non-conference battle of the regular season, Huntingdon Baseball paid a visit to Millsaps College for a battle with the Majors.

After claiming an 11-0 win earlier this season against Millsaps, this time the Hawks found themselves on the losing end, taking a 15-5 loss.

The Majors claimed a controlling lead at the end of the first two innings, utilizing an eight-run second inning to boost themselves to a 9-0 lead. Huntingdon answered in the top frame of the fourth with two runs, as doubles from Cade Morgan and Brodie Holcomb allowed for Blayne McDaniel and Holcomb to cross home plate, cutting the deficit to 9-2 entering the fourth inning.

After a scoreless fourth inning for both teams, the Hawks stayed hot, as McDaniel drilled a single down the middle of the field, scoring Byron McLain as the lead was cut to 9-3. Brent Honaker found his way home shortly there after on a groundout by Brent Cadenhead before Ty Pruitt's RBI single closed the frame with Huntingdon trailing by just four runs, 9-5.

The Majors continued to battle, storming back with six runs of their own in the next two innings to claim a 15-5 victory in seven innings.

Evan Clark drew the start for Huntingdon and fell to 1-3 on the season, allowing 5 runs on 3 hits with two walks in one inning of play. Landon Nelson and Will Argo each saw time on the mound as well before Hoot Rathbun closed things out.

The Hawks look to bounce back on Friday, April 11th, as they kick off a conference series with the Belhaven Blazers. Gametime is set for 6:00 PM CT.
