Remembering Emma Howard
MONTGOMERY, Ala.- On the morning of March 23rd, 2025, the Huntingdon community learned of the tragic passing of Freshman Student-Athlete, Emma Howard.
Emma was a dynamic student at Huntingdon and she carried a big smile with her across campus. A native of Huntsville, Alabama, and a graduate of Grissom High School, she was a member of the women's soccer team, the Dean's List of High Honors and was an active sister of Alpha Omicron Pi.
Due to an injury upon entering the institution, the Business Administration major never got the opportunity to take the field in a Huntingdon soccer uniform, but recently, she joined the women's lacrosse team, lending itself to her selfless nature and intentional work ethic.
Her vibrant attitude, genuine kindness, and endearing personality will be missed not only by those within the Huntingdon community, but by all of those who were blessed by Emma's presence.
"Emma came to us this fall recovering from an injury that kept her off the field, but it did not stop her from having an immediate effect on our program," shared Head Coach Katie Williams. "She worked as hard as anyone at her recovery and showed up every day with a smile on her face ready to encourage everyone around her. Her determination got her back on the field this spring, where she was able to shine. Emma had a passion for soccer that showed every time she stepped on the field. Among many things, we will miss her laughter, her competitive spirit, and her ability to dance with the ball. Her impact on everyone she interacted with will never be forgotten."
"Emma was exactly what you want to see from a first year freshman," Director of Athletics Eric Levanda said. "She was engaged on campus, and highly successful in the classroom. Her family, friends, and teammates are in our thoughts and prayers."
"Emma loved Huntingdon and was loved by Huntingdon," stated Dr. Anthony Leigh, the President of the College. "She smiled all over campus and was a loved, brilliant, and dynamic member of our student body. Join me in keeping Emma's family and friends in your hearts and prayers."
