Huntingdon joins USA South Athletic Conference

MONTGOMERY, Ala. — Huntingdon College President J. Cameron West announced today that Huntingdon will join the NCAA-Division III USA South Athletic Conference beginning in the fall of 2013. Huntingdon and Covenant College (Ga.) were approved as members at a meeting of the USA South presidents yesterday. Current USA South members are Averett University (Va.), Ferrum College (Va.), Greensboro College (N.C.), Mary Baldwin College (Va.), Meredith College (N.C.), Methodist University (N.C.), N.C. Wesleyan College (N.C.), William Peace University (N.C.), and the conference's newest members, LaGrange College (Ga.), Piedmont College (Ga.), and Maryville College (Tenn.).

Huntingdon women’s cross country named USTFCCCA All-Academic team

NEW ORLEANS, La. – The Huntingdon women’s cross country program was recognized this week by the United States Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association as an All-Academic team. The Hawks had a cumulative GPA of 3.22 through the fall semester.

Twenty Hawks earn Academic All-Conference honors

DECATUR, Ga. – The Great South Athletic Conference recently recognized 20 Huntingdon student-athletes in four sports with the release of the GSAC All-Academic teams. The student-athletes from volleyball, men’s and women’s soccer and women’s cross country excelled in the classroom while representing the Hawks in competition this fall.

CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. – Saturday wasn’t the result the Huntingdon women’s cross country team wanted. The Hawks placed five runners in the Top 16 but missed out on a third straight Great South Athletic Conference title. Piedmont won the GSAC championship with a score of 29. Huntingdon was second with 44 points.

Huntingdon cross country teams place fourth in Coach “O” Invitational

TROY, Ala. – The Huntingdon men’s and women’s cross country teams each placed fourth on Saturday in the 12th annual Coach “O” Invitational. Georgia State swept both races and Troy University was second in each. On the men’s side, Georgia State finished with a score of 20, followed by Troy at 56, Morehouse State at 70 and the Hawks at 103. The Huntingdon women finished with a score of 107. First-place Georgia State had a score of 15, followed by second-place Troy at 57 and third-place Albany State at 78.
Huntingdon cross country struggles at JSU Foothills Invitational

OXFORD, Ala. – The Huntingdon women’s cross country team placed 11th and the men’s cross country team did not place in the JSU Foothills Invitational on Saturday. The women were without senior Caitlin McMahon and freshman Whitney Denney in the race. The men were without junior Ian Layne and freshman Alex Dunkel and senior Jeff Jenkins was unable to finish the race due to illness. The men did not place in the team standings because only four runners finished the race.

MEMPHIS, Tenn. – The Huntingdon men’s and women’s cross country teams returned to competition on Saturday in the Rhodes College Cross Country Invitational. The Huntingdon men placed ninth with a score of 258 and the women were 10th with a score of 280.
