  • 139 Hawks earn USA South Academic All-Conference honors

    FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. – More than 130 Huntingdon College student-athletes were recognized with the release of the USA South Academic All-Conference team on Monday. A total of 139 Hawks, representing each of Huntingdon's 18 athletic programs, were among the 1,446 USA South student-athletes named to the team.

    FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. – Four Huntingdon softball players were recognized with the release of the USA South All-Conference awards on Thursday. Junior Alyssa Singleterry was named first-team West Division at shortstop and juniors Rayne Ellis (outfield) and McKenzie Ridgway (third base) and sophomore Madison Hunt (pitcher) were named second-team West Division. Freshman Claire Tomberlin was named to the All-Sportsmanship Team.

    MONTGOMERY, Ala. – The Huntingdon softball team closed out the regular season on Monday with a pair of one-run wins over the Mississippi University for Women. The Lady Hawks scored in the bottom of the seventh inning to win 1-0 in Game 1 and won the second game 2-1. Junior Alyssa Singleterry drove in the winning run in Game 1 and freshman Katie Dewey drove in the winning run in the bottom of the sixth inning in Game 2.
  • Lady Hawks close conference play with sweep of Berea

    BEREA, Ky. – The Huntingdon softball team swept Berea 10-0 and 16-2 on Saturday in the final USA South Athletic Conference doubleheader of the regular season. Game 1 was shortened to six innings and Game 2 was shortened to five innings.

    MARYVILLE, Tenn. – The Huntingdon softball team earned a split with USA South West Division frontrunner Maryville on Friday. After falling 9-0 in five innings in Game 1, Huntingdon bounced back with a 5-2 win in Game 2. The conference loss was just the second of the season for Maryville.

    MONTGOMERY, Ala. – The Huntingdon softball team closed out its Jimmy John’s Classic with a pair of one-run wins on Sunday. The Lady Hawks scored in the bottom of the seventh inning in both games to beat the University of Dallas 3-2 and Mount St. Joseph 7-6. Amari Fleming scored on an error for the winning run against Dallas and Paige Taylor drew a bases-loaded walk to score Maggie Porter in the win over Mount St. Joseph.

    MONTGOMERY, Ala. – The Huntingdon softball team split on the first day of the Jimmy John’s Classic on Saturday. The Lady Hawks fell to Mount St. Joseph 3-1 in the first game of the day and beat the University of Dallas 5-4 in 10 innings in the final game of the day. Mount St. Joseph defeated Dallas 3-2 in the tournament’s second game of the day.

    MONTGOMERY, Ala. – The Huntingdon softball team bounced back from a Game 1 loss to beat Centenary in Game 2 of a doubleheader on Saturday. The Lady Hawks lost 7-2 in Game 1 before winning 4-2 in Game 2. The loss was just the second in eight games for Centenary.

    LAGRANGE, Ga. – The Huntingdon softball team used two big innings to take control in both games of a doubleheader sweep of LaGrange on Thursday. The Lady Hawks scored eight runs in the final inning of Game 1 to win 11-3 and scored six runs in the sixth inning of Game 2 to win 8-3.

    MONTGOMERY, Ala. – The long wait is over for the Huntingdon softball team. After months of anticipation, the Lady Hawks took the field for the first games in their new facility on Thursday. Huntingdon split with Belhaven in the field’s debut, losing 7-5 in Game 1 and winning 4-3 in Game 2.
