Men’s tennis opens season with loss to Christian Brothers

MEMPHIS, Tenn. – The Huntingdon men's tennis team opened its season with a 7-2 loss to Christian Brothers on Friday.

Senior Justin McQueen won at No. 2 singles in a three set match. McQueen won 6-2, 5-7 and 6-1. In doubles play, McQueen and John Jones won in the number one spot, 8-3.

In singles, Ben Marler (No. 5) and Mark Melchor (No. 6) each lost in three sets.  

Huntingdon (0-1) plays twice on Saturday. The Hawks play at 10 a.m. against Belhaven and at 2 p.m. at Rhodes.

No. 2: Justin McQueen (HC) def. Nick Wiseman (CB)  6-2, 5-7, 6-1

No. 4: David D'Alto (CB) def. Bailey Burns (HC)  6-1, 6-1

No. 5: Able Kim (CB) def. Ben Marler (HC)  3-6, 6-4, 8-10

No. 6: Max Wilson (CB) def. Mark Melchor (CB)  6-4, 2-6, 12-4

 

Doubles

No. 1: Jones-McQueen (HC) def. Essary-Wiseman (CB)  8-3

No. 2: Saez-D'Alto (CB) def. Self-Ryan Runager (HC)  9-8

No. 3: Kim-Wilson (CB) def. Burns-Marler (HC)  8-4
