Huntingdon joins USA South Athletic Conference
MONTGOMERY, Ala. — Huntingdon College President J. Cameron West announced today that Huntingdon will join the NCAA-Division III USA South Athletic Conference beginning in the fall of 2013. Huntingdon and Covenant College (Ga.) were approved as members at a meeting of the USA South presidents yesterday. Current USA South members are Averett University (Va.), Ferrum College (Va.), Greensboro College (N.C.), Mary Baldwin College (Va.), Meredith College (N.C.), Methodist University (N.C.), N.C. Wesleyan College (N.C.), William Peace University (N.C.), and the conference's newest members, LaGrange College (Ga.), Piedmont College (Ga.), and Maryville College (Tenn.).

Huntingdon men’s tennis claims GSAC title
KNOXVILLE, Tenn. – Huntingdon freshman Lee Howell had no thoughts of being named tournament MVP during this weekend's Great South Athletic Conference men's tennis tournament. But Howell's performance helped Huntingdon seal a 5-0 win over Piedmont to win the GSAC championship on Sunday at the University of Tennessee. Howell teamed with Tyler Creamer for a key win at No. 2 doubles and then won 6-3, 6-4 at No. 4 singles to end the match and earn MVP honors. This is the Hawks' third conference title as a member of the GSAC. Huntingdon won the men's title in 2008 and 2009.

Huntingdon tennis teams have high expectations entering GSAC tournament
MONTGOMERY, Ala. – The Huntingdon men's and women's tennis teams each have the same goal this weekend. As the Great South Athletic Conference tennis tournament gets started in Knoxville, Tenn., the Hawks and the Lady Hawks are both looking for a conference title. The Huntingdon men have reached the finals the past four seasons and won the conference tournament in 2008 and 2009. The Lady Hawks have played in the tournament finals each of the past five seasons, winning the GSAC championship in 2007 and 2008.

Huntingdon’s Baldwin and Clark earn Freshman of the Year honors
DECATUR, Ga. – Huntingdon freshmen tennis players Zac Baldwin and Taylor Clark were each named conference Freshman of the Year by the Great South Athletic Conference. With the release of the GSAC All-Conference awards, both the Huntingdon men's and women's tennis teams are well represented. A total of 10 Huntingdon tennis players were recognized with awards.

MARYVILLE, Tenn. – The Huntingdon men's tennis team wrapped up regular-season conference play on Saturday with a 9-0 win over Maryville. It was the second straight 9-0 win for the Hawks, who blanked LaGrange on Wednesday.

The Hawks (5-4, 3-1 Great South Athletic Conference) won all three doubles matches and picked up three singles wins to get by Covenant (2-2, 2-1 GSAC).

DECATUR, Ga.-Opening up the month of March, the Great South Athletic Conference announces the men's and women's tennis singles and doubles players of the week. Huntingdon sweeps the women's awards with Taylor Clark for singles and Micaela White and Hannah Still securing the doubles honor. On the men's side, Piedmont's Moses Das earned singles player of the week and Huntingdon's Zac Baldwin and Sean Jackson for doubles.

Huntingdon men’s tennis loses to Oglethorpe
MONTGOMERY, Ala. – The No. 2 doubles team of Tyler Creamer and Lee Howell led the Huntingdon men’s tennis team in an 8-1 loss to Oglethorpe on Saturday. Oglethorpe (1-2) won all six singles positions and No. 1 and No. 2 doubles, but the team of Creamer-Howell won 8-6 at No. 2 doubles.

MONTGOMERY, Ala. – The Huntingdon men’s tennis team set the tone in doubles and finished with a 7-2 win over Tuskegee University on Friday at the Gibbs Tennis Complex. Sean Jackson and Zac Baldwin teamed for an 8-5 win at No. 1 doubles and Larry Pritchett and Tyler Chaffee won 8-3 at No. 2 doubles as the Hawks (1-1) won all three doubles positions and four of the six singles positions.

Hard working Hawks have high expectations entering tennis season
MONTGOMERY, Ala. – Huntingdon men’s tennis coach Charlie Lane is impressed with the work ethic his team has shown in the preseason. “This is the hardest working team I’ve had at Huntingdon,” Lane said. “The guys are working hard and we’re in better condition that we were last year. This is a dedicated group and we’re excited to get the season started.” The Hawks open the season on Sunday at home at the newly refurbished Gibbs Tennis Complex. Huntingdon plays Mississippi College at 1 p.m.

HUNTINGDON MEN’S TENNIS WINS 12 MATCHES IN USTA/ITA SOUTH REGION CHAMPIONSHIPS
SEWANEE, Tenn. – The Huntingdon men’s tennis team had a good showing in this weekend’s USTA/ITA South Region Championships. The Hawks, who did not compete in the tournament last season, won 12 matches on Friday and Saturday.
